Activities

Utica International participated in the following activities:
The 2012-13 Continuous Demographic and Health Survey (Year I) in Senegal- Enquête Démographique et de Santé Continue au Sénégal (EDS-Continue 2012-2013) was implemented by the National Agency of Statistics and Demography – Agence Nationale de la Statistique et de la Démographie (ANSD). Technical assistance was provided by the American firm ICF International. The Director of Utica International was responsible in managing all aspects of the EDS- Continue 2012-2013, including preparation of the tabulation plan, and participation in preparing the final report and dessimination of the survey results.
The 2012 Demographic and Health Survey in the Intervention Zones of the UNICEF Cooperation Program in Niger (EDS-ZIUN) – Zones d’Intervention du programme de coopération de l’UNICEF au Niger was implemented in by the National Institute of Statistics – Institut national de la Statistique (INS) in collaborastion with the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight Against Endemic Diseases – Ministère de la Santé Publique et de la Lutte contre les Maladies Endémiques. Technical assistance was provided by the American firm ICF International. The final report of the EDS-ZUN (in French) was prepared by the Director of Utica International in collaboration with ICF International, UNICEF Niger, Salif Ndiaye, Director of the Centre de Recherche pour le Développement Humain (CRDH) and Badressalem Bel Hadj Ali, consultant.
The 2012 Demographic and Health & Multiple Indicator Survey in Guinea- Enquête Démographique et de Santé & à Indicateurs Multiples en Guinée (EDS-MICS 2012) was implemented by the National Institute of Statistics- Institut National de la Statistique (INS), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene – Ministère de la Santé et de l’Hygiène Publique. Technical assistance was provided by the American firm ICF International. Utica International participated in the preparation of the final report (in French) by editing seven chapters, including the formatting of the tables and preparation of the graphs.
The 2011 Demographic and Health Survey in Equatorial Guinea – Encuesta Demográfica y de Salud en Guinea Ecuatorial (EDSGE-I) was implemented by the Ministry of Health and Social Well-Being – Ministerio de Sanidad y Bienestar Social and the Ministry of Economics, Planning and Public Investment – Ministerio de Economia, Planificación, e Inversiones Publicas. Technical assistance was provided by the American firm ICF International.
Infant mortality and under-five mortality are regarded as highly sensitive indicators of populationand child health. Reducing mortality and improving goals for governments and the international community. Under-five mortality is one ofthe eight Millinium Development Goals ( MDGs) that were adopted by the United Nations Member States in 2000. The Millinium Declaration set 2015 as the target date for most of the goals. Under-five mortality is targeted tobe reduced by two-thirds,between 1990 and 2015( United Nations 2008)
Technical assistance for the implementation ofthe Gambia MIS 2017 was provided by Utica International. The survey was implemented by the Gambia Bureau of Statistics (GBoS), in close collaboration with the Gambia National Malaria Control Program (NMCP) and the National Public Health Laboratories (NPHL) of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoH&SW). Financial support for the survey was provided by the Global Fund to Fight AIDs, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund -GFATM),and the Government of The Gambia
Utica International provided technical assistance for the implementation of the 2018 Demographic and Reproductive Health Survey (Tereceiro Inquérito Demografico e de Saude Reprodutiva) in Cape Verde. The survey included salt anaemia and HIV testing aswellas anthropometric measurments
